Reading Health magazine tonight and ran across this little tidbit!
"Women who did 22 yoga poses several times a week for 12 weeks reported more desire, increased arousal, and better orgasms, according to a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine."
Nuff said! I hope to see you all on the mat as new yoga class sessions start in September! :) While it is not stated in the quote I shared, I would guess that there are parallels for men that practice yoga and their sexual wellness too. After all, when we start to be more present and aware, we truly live in the here and now and can fully experience each moment.
We are physical, emotional, spiritual, and sexual beings. It's all part of life and the human experience. Yoga as a practice can assist us as we seek to "yoke" or bring all the aspects of our being into a sense of wholeness.

Too fun! Thanks for sharing, Karen!
I'll have to look for the article :)
I'll try to find the actual article/research. In particular, I want to know what postures were included in the study! While sexuality can be difficult to talk about in our culture....it is absolutely true that we are physical, social, spiritual and sexual beings. Yoga is about connecting all parts of us so that we feel whole and healthy: sexual health is part of how we are created and made. Too bad that the culture we live in either exploits sex or represses it!
Thanks for the comments!!
This is the full article: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2009.01580.x/full
It has a list of the yogasanas in there
Brenda,
Thanks for doing the research!! I took a quick look at the study and the asanas that were included.....many we already do at least occasionally in class. I may have to start incorporating them more often!!
